Sailing Holidays in Viška Luka

Viška Luka (43°04′N 16°12′E) is entered between Rt od Sabićeva, 1½ miles W of Rt Stončica, and Rt od Kampa, 1 mile farther W, and provides good shelter. Vis the capital of the island and the village of Kut, both fronted by seawalls are situated at the SW and SE heads respectively of the harbour. The harbour is backed on all sides by high hills, the rising ground around the shore being cultivated. Anchorage may be obtained in the outer part of the harbour just inside the entrance, in mid-channel in about 36 m good holding, avoiding a 26 m rocky patch in the fairway about 0. 4 miles S of Otočić Host. In the inner part of the harbour, anchorage is restricted by: A submarine sewer which extends 300 m E from the vicinity of Hotel Issa in Uvala Stonca, 0. 7 miles SSW of Otočić Host. A submarine cable laid across the harbour, from a position about 415 meters SW of Otočić Host to Rt Sveti Juraj, 0. 4 miles S of Otočić Host. There are boulders on the shore to which hawsers can be secured.
