Birdwatching is a great activity in nature and is getting more and more popular in Greece,too. In Greece there are many places where birdwatchers observe wild birds and rare species in their natural environment. On Dadia Forest on Alexandroupoli, a wonderful forest between “Evros Mountains”, visitors can see more than 100 species, many of them the rarest European birds of prey.
It is the only golf course at the Aegean sea. The field is ideal for amateurs and professional players.
Sympetro is a 413 m mountain peak near Kos. The nearest peaks are Dikeos and Trotsouli.
The river Fonias creates many lakes and waterfalls. Kremasto is the biggest and most impressive one, 35m in height and forms a lake with a diameter of 30m.
Near Mytata and Viaradika villages is Tsakonas canyon. It is an amazing trip, ideal for beginners.
Dadia forest is about 67 km north of Alexandroupoli. The forest is one of the most important habitats in Greece.

Lake Psalidi is near Kos town and is a great destination for bird-watching, providing birds such as rare ducks and flamingoes. Some of the species, which could be found there, especially in the autumn, include Reddy Shelduck, Slender-billed Curlew, Long-legged Buzzard and Lesser Kestrel.
Korission Lake is an excellent place for bird watching. It is located in the south-western part of Corfu and provides an important ecosystem for a range of species, and a stopping area for migrating birds from Africa.
